Freescale Semiconductor has turned a conventional golf club into a sophisticated piece of high tech training equipment. Using the coldfire microprocessor chip embedded inside the clubhead and sensors located on the shaft, this prototype streams data to a monitor showing the exact velocity of the swing, the angle of the clubhead at impact, and where the ball would land on a simulated golf course.
Here's Alex from the Liberal Arts and Science Academy of Austin, TX talking about their latest robotic creation for the FIRST competition.
Samuel Majors attended NIWeek 2007. He came up on Thursday's keynote presentation and discussed his accomplishments with LabVIEW in controlling his railroad automation project. Afterwards I interviewed Samuel and his dad. Sam surprised me with one of his answers so I edited in some additional material at the end. My only regret is not having enough time to ask Sam some more questions. I didn't have any choice however since they both had to rush off to a meeting with the press.
Quick Interview with Brian Powell, architect with the LabVIEW R&D team. He talks about the early days at NI, his involvement with Info-LabVIEW and his blog.
We see a demonstration of how CMOS image sensors like the ones used in camera phones are tested using TestStand, LabVIEW, NI Vision software and NI hardware.
Here we see the LAVA members and several NI folks on their way to this year's LAVA OpenG Barbeque. I don't have any video from Salt-Lick because it was just too dark in there (bad lighting) to produce any decent quality video.
How much can you compress a T-shirt? It seems that NI has figured this out. Watch this video where we model this year's NIWeek giveaway in all its ripply glory.
Hi Everyone, I have posted My NIWeek 2007 Presentations, if you're interested to take a look. Cheers, -Jim
We see how a PXI chassis can communicate with various industrial protocols like OPC, Devicenet, Profibus, Ethernet, CANopen and a touch panel HMI.
We see a demonstration of using a USB DAQ with an embedded system to produce a complete heart rate monitor system. I think this was the only intern at NIWeek who was brave enough to give us a demo.
If you've seen the previous video of the Challenge the LabVIEW Champions from NIWeek 2007, you will remember Justin. Here Justin discusses why he chose regular expressions as a string function and also why he didn't know anything about Express VI's. Note that the developer of Express VI technology was sitting right next to him... Oops!
On Tuesday of NIWeek this year, we had a Family Feud style game show take place. The LabVIEW Champions against anyone else who signed up to compete. Here's the video I took and edited from that game. Some of you may know the Champions from the LAVA or NI Forums. Two of the Challengers Justin and Dan are also known on LAVA. Thanks to Jeffrey Phillips, Chris Washington and Dierdre Walsh for organizing this. We all had fun.
Here's what happens when two video bloggers meet at NIWeek. There was some good stuff we didn't get on camera, like how Richard says everyone is Pavarotti. When what he really meant was paparazzi.
Ok, so all of you have been wondering about the videos... don't worry, all the material will go up. It takes time. here's the first. Norm is great in front of the camera. I had to edit out a ton of stuff to just get this down to size. He just kept going on and on...
