Senior Test Development Engineer - San Diego
The InSource Group is a Technical Staffing Firm who has been engaged by a leading company that specializes in the design and development of custom test and measurement, data acquisition, and control systems. They were founded in 1990, and have supplied hundreds of custom turnkey systems for a wide variety of industries including production test, military/aerospace, networking/communications, energy/utilities, life sciences, and semiconductor/electronics. Their staff has extensive experience in all phases of project development from customer requirements analysis, project management, design, integration, installation, training, and support.

Senior test development engineers create automated test procedures for developing automated test procedures for our client's wireless phone customer. Job duties include working directly on-site with customer for test requirements definition, software design and development, hardware selection and integration, and project management. The focus of the position is on wireless handset production test development – both new test development and leveraging existing production test steps for similar products. In this position, the engineer will work independently under minimal supervision. This position may require about 25% domestic and international travel.

General Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science – preferably electrical engineering. Also, candidates are required to have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing automated tests. Entry level candidates will not be considered for this position. Professional appearance and effective communication skills are required - both oral and written. A full background check will be required. The ideal candidate for this position has an inherent desire to learn new technology and is innovative, resourceful, and adaptable.

Software Development Qualifications:
Candidate must be capable of developing professional-quality software using LabWindows/CVI or C. A minimum of 3 years of experience using structured software design is required. Experience with TestStand, CM Synergy, and advanced programming techniques such as multithreading is also highly desirable.

Hardware Integration Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience specifying and integrating GPIB/serial instruments for wireless measurement and analysis – spectrum analyzer, VSA, network analyzer, audio analyzer, radio test set, power supply, DMM, switch/mux, etc. The ideal candidate has experience with call processing tests for wireless handsets (CDMA/TDMA/GSM), transmitter/receiver tuning/alignment, and LCD display inspection.

Salary and Benefits:
