Senior Labview Project Engineer

The InSource Group is a Technical Staffing Firm who has been engaged by a leading company that specializes in the design and development of custom test and measurement, data acquisition, and control systems. They were founded in 1990, and have supplied hundreds of custom turnkey systems for a wide variety of industries including production test, military/aerospace, networking/communications, energy/utilities, life sciences, and semiconductor/electronics. Their staff has extensive experience in all phases of project development from customer requirements analysis, project management, design, integration, installation, training, and support.

Our client has a need for a Senior project engineer to develop automated test, measurement, and control systems. Project complexity ranges from small, low-speed applications with 10-20 I/O points to large, distributed, high-speed systems with 100-2000 I/O points. Job duties include working directly with clients on project requirements definition, system architecture design, software design and development, hardware selection and integration, and project management. In this position, the engineer will work independently with minimal supervision or in a team as a technical contributor or as team leader/mentor. Other duties for this position include documenting designs and user interfaces and training clients on design features.

General Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science. Also, candidates are required to have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing automated test, measurement, and control systems. Professional appearance and effective communication skills are required - both oral and written. For some projects, security clearance and a full background check may be required. During the interview process, technical and interpersonal skills will be tested and a background check will be performed. The ideal candidate for this position has an inherent desire to learn new technology and is innovative, resourceful, and adaptable.

Software Development Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience developing professional-quality LabVIEW software applications using advanced architecture and data structure techniques. Experience with TestStand, C/CVI/C++, and databases is also highly desirable.

Hardware Integration Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience specifying and integrating data acquisition and control hardware such as PC-based DAQ boards, rack-based instruments (GPIB, VXI, PXI), distributed I/O, PLCs, sensors, and signal conditioning. A broad knowledge of measurement and control principles is required.
